Birmingham’s popular Bacchus Bar has reopened after a revamp and here’s a first look.

The underground bar in Burlington Arcade, which is part of Nicholson’s Pubs, has kept its eccentric decor but refreshed many areas. The Egyptian Room, restaurant and various nooks and crannies have added even more unique pieces and artifacts relating to Birmingham’s history.

Next to the Macdonald Burlington Hotel off New Street, visitors will find more craft beers behind the bar including from Attic Brew Co and Birmingham Brewing Company, which has produced a Bacchus Pale Brummie ale.

There is set to be regular live music with collapsible tables to allow revellers room to dance. There’s also more of the popular gothic style high-backed chairs that customers clamoured to bag.

Bacchus Bar Assistant Manager Izzy said: “We’ve got more of everything after the revamp. There’s more craft beers, going to be more live music and we’ve added loads of new seating.

“We’ve even got tables that drop down so people can have a boogie.

“There’s a duality to the Bacchus Bar as you can drink and have a good time but there are lovely, cosy areas for people to snuggle into as well.

“We’ve still got the popular knight’s armour too and fans will be happy to hear we’ve added more pieces to it so it’s now fully-equipped.”

Around the restaurant, paintings of famous Birmingham residents have been added to the walls.

While another room now features theatrical artefacts recalling how the site was once where The New Street Theatre stood from 1744. Later called The Theatre Royal, it was demolished in 1956.

Here’s a first look since the revamp, shown in the gallery of photos below.
