Birmingham city centre bus stop changes in New Year – where and when

Changes to Birmingham city centre bus stops are taking place in early January. Here are all the details of where and when.

Albert Street is reopening on January 5, 2025, following track work installation for West Midlands Metro – but as a result, some bus stops are moving.

Transport for West Midlands said the aim of the changes is to improve traffic flow and offer extra bus stops in the city centre. More are being added in Corporation Street – opposite the Square Peg pub – and Albert Street.

Shoppers and commuters are being warned that although bus services will continue to run as normal, there will be some minor diversions in the city centre along with a change to bus stop locations. Commuters are being urged to check their route.

It coincides with a change to bus timetables on January 5. The new Birmingham bus timetables and journey planner can be found here.

Those who usually start or end their bus journey by Moor Street Station, Carrs Lane, Bull Street or Priory Queensway in Birmingham City Centre, will still be able to get the bus but the stop needed to get on and off may have changed.

The following bus services affected are:

2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 23, 24, 33, 45, 47, 51, 61, 63, 97, 97A, 822, 907, 907A, 934, 935,
