A Birmingham shop manager has praised Central BID’s security team and systems including City Safe Radio for helping tackle shoplifters and make her staff feel safer.
Gloria Clottey, manager of The Fragrance Shop in Birmingham city centre’s High Street, said the Business Support team gives her reassurance. While their expert advice enabled her to successfully apply to bosses for locked drawers to be fitted around the store to act as a deterrent.
Selling perfumes and aftershaves from Jimmy Choo to Marc Jacobs and Hugo Boss makes the store popular with shoppers but also a target for shoplifters.
Gloria said: “City Safe Radio is brilliant and means I get a very swift response from the Central BID team. I know I can rely on the security team to answer my issues straight away.
“I like that we get regular emails now too on what’s going on. I think BID’s team is brilliant.”
Discussing problems she was having in-store with Central BID led to Gloria suggesting to head office managers that stock was put behind locked cabinets.
It has prevented opportunist thieves from trying to grab items and made the store more secure.
City Safe Radio network operates across the Central BID area in Birmingham city centre and gives businesses a direct link with patrol officers and West Midlands Police’s CCTV team.
The scheme is open to all businesses, not just Central BID members, and costs £10 a week plus VAT. For more details or to sign up visit the City Safe Radio page here.
