New tree lights are to brighten up Birmingham city centre and make it look even more ‘Instagrammable’.
They will twinkle along New Street from today(Friday November 1) and remain for the next five years. Central BID successfully applied to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for the £70,000 project to enhance the area.
Work to fit the lights took place during September ahead of the official switch-on this week to tie in with the arrival of the Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham.
Yet lights will remain long after the festive season and be adaptable for the next five years to make the city centre look even more attractive and brighter.
Bespoke lighting can be added to build on key retail dates through the year, such as 3D glowing hearts around Valentine’s Day to help make Birmingham shine bright during the dark nights.
