A spine-tingling café and bar inspired by Stranger Things and Beetlejuice is to open in Birmingham city centre in August. Merlin’s will be a fantasy horror-themed eatery in Martineau Place.
Horror-loving couple Martin Fox and Ella Tuta are behind the venue, which is set to have gothic red and black décor, its own ‘hell’s kitchen’ and even a “bewitching fog filled atmosphere” in the cocktail lounge.
They said it will be “an immersive experience designed to thrill and delight visitors of all ages” once the final touches are completed in coming weeks. The new menu will even have spooky themes for food and cocktails once it opens on August 3.
Above the ground floor family-friendly café and restaurant will be a first-floor bar and cocktail lounge for adults only after 6pm, playing live music until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights.
Merlin’s director Martin said: “We wanted to create a venue that transports our guests into a world of fantasy and horror, where every visit is filled with excitement and intrigue.
“Every corner of Merlin’s is designed to transport guests into a fantastical world, with themed decorations, animatronics, ambient lighting, and interactive elements that bring the experience to life.
“From our unique themed menu offerings to our creatively chilling themed décor, every detail at Merlin’s has been carefully crafted to provide a positively horrifying experience. After all, every day is Halloween at Merlin’s.”
